Jun 7, 2017 - Apple just wrapped up one of the most hardware-focused software. Of one of the updated iMacs and see how it handles 4K video editing. A much, much weaker graphics card: an AMD Radeon R9 M380 with 2GB of VRAM. Please read both before posting! This subreddit is for general discussion of computers. I'm looking for some advice on which laptop I should buy. I'm in the market for a new computer that I will use for video editing/compositing in After Effects/Premiere, and maybe some 3D in Cinema 4D. I will also be using it for photo editing, and of course I'll use it for basic tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, word processing, etc. Here are the 2 laptops I was looking at: MacBook Pro 2017 15 inch: - 2.8GHz i7 - 16GB RAM - 256GB SSD - Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB memory. And New Razer Blade 15: - i7-8750H (2.2GHz up to 4.1GHz turbo) - 16GB RAM - 60hz Screen - 256GB SSD - GTX 1060 with 6GB memory. (I haven't been able to find a place to buy this configuration anywhere, are they still selling it?) The reason I'd prefer getting a laptop is mostly portability. I don't want to only be limited to using my computer in one place. I also plan on taking this computer to college and using it for notes and things like that, which would require a portable computer. I want to make sure that I get a computer that can handle heavy editing and rendering. Render times aren't a huge concern to me, but I do want to be able to have a smooth timeline that can handle a lot of clips and effects without slowing down or stuttering too much. Ideally I'd like to use MacOS instead of Windows because I would like to use Mac specific apps such as Xcode and maybe Final Cut. It would also be nice to be able to easily switch between Windows and MacOS easily, and having the iOS integration since I own an iPhone. If the Razer would work much better than the Mac though (while also being cheaper), I'd be fine not having MacOS. Usb microphone for mac. I'm having a hard time deciding between these two because they're pretty similar and they both have pros and cons for me. While the Mac would give me the freedom between both softwares, the Razer has a better graphics card, but I'm not sure how much of a difference 2GB vs 6GB graphics memory would make for my purposes. I'm hoping you all can give me some insight on this.
